Default Max number of columns?

Is the max no of columns in a spreadsheet really only 256, or is there some
devious way of tricking Excel to allow more?

Hi

The max columns in Excel is 256 - but there are spreadsheets with more
(Quattro Pro, I believe).
The new version of Excel due later this year has blown that limit out of the
water.
For now, you'll have to find a different way to lay your data out.
