Default cell addressing using a template

I am trying to take data from a spreadsheet and link it to a template
on another sheet.
This works fine, but when i cut and paste the template over and over
again the cell address is increased by 8 (the length of rows in the
template) instead of one. Is there a way to link cells to a different
sheet and control how much the cell address is incremented?
