Default Trouble with Mouse Pointer in Excel

My mouse pointer turned into a fat cross. This is a pain because it makes it
harder to select cells etc. it is only this way when the pointer is over cell
area's it turns back into an arrow when it is in the menu area. It is this
way even in a new blank worksheet.

This is normal. It's been that way since the dawn of Excel.

Randy,

The cursor always looks this way in Excel. Once you have selected a cell,
you will see that if you move the pointer over the bottom right corner of it
it turns into a thin black cross - this indicates the fill handle for the
auto fill function. If you hold the pointer over the middle of the cell, you
will see it changes into a cross of arrows pointing up, down, left and right
- this indicates the drag and drop function.

There is a whole lot that Excel can do, but I think the pointer will always
look this way...

Ewan.
