Default replace using *

I am using Excel 2002. I have a column that contains text. Within this text
are multiple *. I would like to replace them with nothing using the find and
replace option. The problem is when I put the * in the find filed Excel
assumes it is a wild card and replaces the entire field with blank. How do I
tell Excel the * is not a wild card but an actual character.
