Default Launching Excel causes floppy drive access

When I launch Excel 2000 my floppy is accessed. If there is no disk in the
drive the system hangs. What is causing Excel to access the floppy drive and
how can I stop this?

Check at the menu Tools, Options, General Tab, there see it (near the bottom)
your A:\ drive is there. If so, change it to your C:\my Documents

I"m not an expert but I'm guessing because the last file saved or opened was
to the floppy drive, try opening a file from the "my documents" folder
directly. Do not launch excel just double click on the file.

My A drive is not indicated there. I have checked that already. Thanks.
I will try the option of double clicking on a file to launch Excel. Perhaps
that will resolve my problem.
Thanks again.
