Default OFFICE PROFESSIONAL 2003 W32, part# 269-08393,will not open files

recently loaded MS OFFICE PROFESSIONAL 2003 W32, part# 269-08393.
when i attempt to access a file in excel or word it does not recognize them.

completely.
