I normally use "Courier New" because the characters are so easy-to-read
and they align so neatly on my monitor and on the printed page.

However, the smallest "Courier New" font size is "8" which, in some
instances, is too large.

Is there another smaller, monospaced font-style that is as easy-to-read
as Courier New?

Hi Gary

You simply need select the cells with the text you wish to resize then
click into the font size box on your toolbar and type in the size you
want you font to be.

The toolbar shows the font is "COURIER NEW" and the font-size is "8".
I know that I can click the font-size box and change the font-size to
"10", "24", etc.
But I want a SMALLER font-size (like "6" or "4").

Since "COURIER NEW" doesn't offer a font-size smaller than "8", I'm
looking for a different font-style (like Arial or Times New Roman") but
the new font-style needs to be monospaced (i.e., all characters taking
up the same amount of space) with a small font-size.

Don't try to choose 6 or 4. Just type it in.

By the way, Dave. I really appreciate your replies to my "Matching
Cells" posting a couple of days ago - your last reply did the trick!

Excel can substitute fonts when things get small--either zoom or size (if I
recall correctly).

maybe this post by Debra Dalgleish will help:

You can change a registry setting to prevent this from happening (make a
backup copy of the registry first):

1. From the Start button, choose Run
2. Type regedit then click OK
3. Click the + sign to the left of HKEY_CURRENT_USER
4. Open Software, Microsoft, Office, 9.0, Excel, Options
5. Choose EditNewDWORD Value
6. Type the name for the DWORD: FontSub
7. Press Enter to complete the renaming
8. Choose EditModify
9. Type 0 as the value, select Decimal, and click OK
10. Close the Registry Editor

That 9.0 will vary with your version of excel.
