Default How do I merge two cells in a column

I am trying to merge cell A1 and cell A2 into one cell. I select both cells
by selecting one and then hitting shift while I select the other but the

Try selecting A1 and A2 at the same time.

Click on A1 and paint over A2.

If you have trouble with this, you can use the keyboard.

Edit|goto
type:
A1:A2
into the reference box at the bottom.
