Default SQL query removes alias

Under certain conditions e.g. when grouping data in an SQL query the query
does not return column heading names. Does anyone know if there is a fix for
this problem.

Since misery loves company, I'm in the same boat but not with grouping. If
you use a simple formula to compute the value of a column (e.g. substring), I
get the same behavior. If you hear of an answer, let me know. Thanks.
