Excel Formatting - Just Plain MM:SS Please!
How do I get Excel to read 13:48 as 13 minutes and 48 seconds of just plain old elapsed time (so I can use it in a calculation)? NOT 1:48 PM...NOT 1/1/1900 00:13:48.... etc, etc. Very, very frustrating! I'm using Excel '97. BTW, OpenOffice Spreadsheet has the same problem. -- HoustonAerosFan ------------------------------------------------------------------------ HoustonAerosFan's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=30885 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=505630 |

FormatCellsNumberCustom. In the Type box, enter mm:ss
Enter your times as 0:22:50 (for 22 minutes and 50 seconds) -- Kind regards, Niek Otten "HoustonAerosFan" <HoustonAerosFan.22a22m_1138338601.1181@excelfor um-nospam.com wrote in message news:HoustonAerosFan.22a22m_1138338601.1181@excelf orum-nospam.com... That's part of the problem. I'm cutting and pasting from a Web page that displays as 13:48, not 00:13:48. -- HoustonAerosFan ------------------------------------------------------------------------ HoustonAerosFan's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=30885 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=505630 |

Assuming your dates are in A1 down, enter this in B1:
=A1/60 Use Custom Format on the cell as [m]:ss, then copy down for as many values as you have in A. You can fix the values if you wish, then you can delete column A. Hope this helps. Pete |
