Hi,
Select cell A1, go to Format-conditional formatting and choose 'Formula is' and type =IF($A$2="Hot",TRUE,FALSE) and choose the format you need. and then add a condition, choose 'Formula is' and type =IF($A$2="Cold",TRUE,FALSE) and choose the format you need.
