Is anyone aware of how to type within the cell in a vertical manner rather
than horizontally; without using "text box" as well?

<Format <Cells <Alignment tab,
And under "Orientation:, click in the "Text" window, then <OK.

Format Cells - Alignment tab

In the Orientation area click in the area that shows the word "Text"
vertically

or rotate the angle bar to the right of that area if that's the result
you want

Then click OK
