Format Cells and a whole lot!
i have a sheet with only 1 column (A) each cell downward has an entry and it looks like this A 1 ,"Ernest Vasquez" and so forth and so forth i need to remove the ,"Ernest Vasquez" from this cell and paste on a separate column (B) without the , and " " just the plain name. Why not just highlight cell A1 and manually delete the characters? Well because there are 25,213 entries from A1 to A25213. Select Column A.
Choose Text to Columns on the Data menu. Leave it set to delimited. Select the comma check box. Type a quotation mark in the Other box and select its check box. You should now have have the Comma and Other check boxes selcted. You can clear the rest of them. Select the Treat consecutive delimiters as one check box. Click Finish. -- tj "djranks" wrote: i have a sheet with only 1 column (A) each cell downward has an entry and it looks like this A 1 ,"Ernest Vasquez" and so forth and so forth i need to remove the ,"Ernest Vasquez" from this cell and paste on a separate column (B) without the , and " " just the plain name.
