Too many formulas, how do i fix?
I have a workbook with three sheets, all of which have formulas that depend
on each other to create the result. The issue is that each sheet have approximately 21,000 records and multiple formulas for each record, so when fully populated, the spreadsheet does not respond quickly (or at all) when doing a query. Is there any way to compress the data or speed up processing of the formulas? Thanks, Erin |

Any other ways within Excel? I do not have the capabilities to
download/purchase new software. Currently with only 30 rows of data, it takes 10 seconds just to save the workbook. Trying to filter/sort is almost impossible with more than the current amount of data. You don't have to buy software. The site contains numerous tips to improve
speed and memory usage. Just take the time to read it carefully and see what applies to your situation. BTW, what kind of formulas? -- Kind regards, Niek Otten "Erin P" wrote in message ... If you have Firefox, I would suggest that for viewing Charles' site, the scrolling
is rather weird especially if using IE, it takes a little getting used to.. The site doesn't quite look like I remember it -- perhaps start with "bottlenecks" You might also look at my page http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/slowresp.htm Your question seems to differ from the subject is there some other aspect you are also interested in. Watch out for use of SUM down an entire column as a running balance -- you do not want to start from the top for each balance. Covered on slowresp.htm and on proper.htm, but also specifically in http://groups.google.com/groups?as_u...2@TK2MSFTNGP10 --- HTH, David McRitchie, Microsoft MVP - Excel [site changed Nov. 2001] My Excel Pages: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/excel.htm Search Page: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/search.htm "Niek Otten" wrote in message ...
