1 laptop user has Excel hang when clicking file-open, then trying to open the
dropdown box. She is running Windows XP SP2 with Office 2000 Pro, and default file location is being used. |

Does she have lots of mapped drives?
Does she have lots of local (USB drives?) mapped? Neil48 wrote: 1 laptop user has Excel hang when clicking file-open, then trying to open the dropdown box. She is running Windows XP SP2 with Office 2000 Pro, and default file location is being used. -- Dave Peterson |

The user has several mapped drives, she is the HR manager and thus she needs
to access several folders at any given time. There are no USB mappings. "Dave Peterson" wrote: Does she have lots of mapped drives? Does she have lots of local (USB drives?) mapped? Maybe she can make a note of the mapped drives, then disconnect them.
Just to test if it makes a difference. If it does make a difference, maybe she'll want to keep some disconnected???? We have disconnected and reconnected. Unistalled then reinstalled, nothing
seems to help this woman. I was just curious if anyone else had this same problem, but it's Microsoft, so what can you expect! The solution that I was suggesting was to keep as few mapped drives as possible.
I didn't mean to imply that disconnecting, then reconnecting would do anything to help. Maybe she could put shortcuts to the UNC path's on the desktop and not map any of them.
