Default need to correct scanned document all i get is jumbled words

i scaned a doc & i need to correct some figures but all i get is jumbled mess
as seen below

Are you scanning as Text using the OCR software that came with your scanner?

Depending upon the OCR software, you can get close to 100% accuracy.

Re. accuracy; are you speaking from experience or vendor claims? If
experience, I would love to know what you are using. I have yet to see
any OCR software that does not require extensive cleanup.

I have to admit I am guilty of a slight<g exaggeration with the "close to
100%".

I have been lucky a few times with HP PrecisionScan LTX but in general the
recognition does not approach 100% and clean-up is required.

That is more in keeping with my experience. I agree with you that I
have never seen OCR software as completely clueless as the OP's example
would imply. Probably he is trying to open an image at text, as you
seem to have implied.
