Default my excel 2003 file grew suddenly from 3mb to 435mb

For reasons that I cannot figure out, a file which I use daily has grown
exponentially in size. I have tried all the usual things to reduce it,
however it remains huge. There are no pictures, only text & some formulas in
1 column only.

Does anyone know what the problem is? I need help please.
