Default edit this =COUNTIF(A1:F16,"*1-2*")+COUNTIF(A1:F16,"*2-1*")

When I try to edit this =COUNTIF(A1:F16,"*1-2*")+COUNTIF(A1:F16,"*2-1*")
I change the A1 to A2 and hit enter it quits functioning as a formula
and it fills the cell with text and numbers.
I can edit it one time and it will work. If I edit it twice I get the
text and numbers =COUNTIF(A1:F16,"*2-1*")+COUNTIF(A1:F16,"*1-2*") One
thing I did notice is that when I typed the formula in and hit enter
the number that showed up in the cell was aligned right and when I
edited it the first time and hit enter the number aligned left.

1-10 9-2 3-8 4-7 5-6
4-3 10-8 9-7 1-6 5-2
8-9 1-7 2-6 3-5 4-10
4-6 5-10 9-1 2-8 3-7
10-6 7-5 2-1 8-4 9-3
5-9 6-8 7-10 3-2 1-4
3-1 4-9 8-5 6-7 10-2
7-2 6-3 5-4 9-10 8-1
7-8 2-4 10-3 1-5 6-9
6-5 10-1 2-9 8-3 7-4

Try Edit/Clear/Formats from the cells that are misbehaving. Then Edit/Replace,
and replace an equal sign with and equal sign (the latter is the same as
editing each formula).
