Default Basic: Pivot Table formats

Hello:
This is driving me crazy. My pivot table formatting is lost any time I move
a field or change the selection. FOr example, the word wrapping goes away.

Also, what is the char limit for a pivot cell. My text is getting truncated.

Appreciate it.

In some versions of Excel, you may have to enable selection (From the
Pivot toolbar, choose PivotTableSelect, and click on Enable Selection)

Before formatting cells, use the selection feature to select the cells.
For example, move the pointer to the top of a column in the pivot table
(just above the column's heading cell). When the black arrow appears
(like the one that appears when the pointer is over a column button),
click to select the column in the pivot table. Then apply the formatting.

If that doesn't work, you could record a macro as you refresh and
reformat the pivot table. Then, run that when you want to update.

The character limit for a cell in a pivot table is 255.

Thanks, Debra. I'm running Xls '03 on Windows XP, if that helps anyone. I'll
give this a try. I guessed that 255 was the limit, and w/o having counted, I
don't think I'm up to that limit before the truncation is occurring, but I'll
take a closer look.

Regards, Germaine

Another thing to check -- Right-click on a cell in the pivot table, and
choose Table Options
Make sure there's a check mark for Preserve Formatting
