Default Freezing panes

When you select Window - Freeze panes at a given cell, a black line
appears at the top of the cell and to the left of the cell. Is there a
way to freeze panes without having these lines displayed?

I am not aware of any option to 'hide' the freeze pane line. I am sure
Excel does that to help the user find the cut-off point from scrollable
cells from 'frozen' ones.
