New excel user. I am trying to type a part #09-02 in a cell. When I enter It
automatically turns to Sept.2. Please Help. Thanks. |

Precede your entry with a single quote...

Excel will always recognise the dash in the middle of your number as being
part of a date, the easiest way to avoid the number changing to a date is to put an apostrophe in front of your number ,,,,, '09-02, this will keep it as a number, not sure this will help you though if you are going to be using lookups or sumifs on the data.
