I copy some text from a web page, open my worksheet, select a cell,
and open the hyperlink dialog. But when I try to paste into the 'Text
to display' box something nothing happens. Yet if I then open my text
editor, paste the text there and copy it again from there, I CAN then
paste into the hyperlink.

Anyone know what is the likely cause of this odd behaviour please?

Webpage text is HTML, usually, and so needs to be converted to plain
text to be used as such. You can do this via pasting to a text editor
than does not support HTML, or use Paste Values to insert the text into
a cell.

You can also Paste text copied from a webpage directly into the
Hyperlink dialog's 'Text to Display' box as well as its 'Address' box
because these are TextBox controls which do not support HTML. Thus,
can't really say why it doesn't paste for you!<g
