Default Help--Excel keeps crashing

A coworker who uses a Compac PC has suddeny developed this problem:
every time she tries to open Microsoft Excel she gets a message
that says the program has encountered problems and must close.

Any idea what she can do to fix this?

See your reply in .crashesgpfs, and please don't multipost as this tends to
fragment answers.
