Default Fill down on a protected sheet

I notice that the filldown feature is not available in a protected sheet,
does it mean protection must be removed first before using filldown?

If the cells selected for your filldown are unlocked and the sheet protected,
you should be able to access the filldown.

Otherwise...unprotect the sheet.
