Default cannot edit comment

Maybe I'm dense, but I have a large shared spreadsheet with lots of comments.
For some (not all) of the comments, it will not allow any editing in the
comment cell. In addition, some (not all) comments will anchor themselves
near column BS even though the comment is for a cell in colum AA?

Any help?

Two things to check:
- protected cells can be setup to prevent edits; if enabled,
Tools|Protection|Unprotect Sheet may work
- if you have Freeze Panes setup and the comment is anchored in a frozen
section, it might not look like you're editing the comment, but you will be
able to. You just have to type blindly and then show the comment again (or
move the comment out the the frozen section of the worksheet)

Hope that helps.

Have checked those, do have the first column (col. A) frozen (user names)...
will try turning it off completely. Whenever you try to type, the cursor
does not move, the PC just dings at each keystroke.

Could they text boxes or validation instead of comments. Do you shave
comment indicator turned on.

You have no control over where Excel will show the comment, or even if it will
be visible. You might have some luck using
Reset Comments to Original Position
