formula bar
I'm calculating simple percentages. I enter 5/10*100 and 50 appears in the
cell. When I go back to that cell, what shows up in the formula bar is ..5*100. This makes it impossible for me to check to make sure I entered the correct numbers to begin with. Is there a way to make it keep the original formula in the formula bar when you return to the cell? |

Hi Peter,
Doesn't happen to me when I precede the formula with an equal sign. In fact even if I turn on transition formula entry (tools, options, transition) I don't get that result. But I don't see how you make such an entry without transition options on if not using the equal sign. I would look at Tools, Auto Correct to see if you somehow got a substitution included for 5/10 being replaced by .5 and if you have it you would see the conversion happen before you can even hit the Enter key. --- HTH, David McRitchie, Microsoft MVP - Excel [site changed Nov. 2001] My Excel Pages: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/excel.htm Search Page: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/search.htm "Peter R." wrote in message ...
