Formulawise with 1/29/2005 in A1;
enter in B1
=DATE(YEAR(A1),MONTH(A1)+6,DAY(A1))


B1 uses the same Year, the same day
but for the month it adds 6, << this
in order to get what you want.

otherwise 6 months from 1/29/2005 IS 6/01/2005.
