Default Automatic Date In Excel

How would i be able to stop the date from automatically appearing.

Ie;
I type 11 - 20 [which is precisely what i want]
but then Excel changes it to Nov-2020, and 11/11/2020 in the function bar.

How can i stop that happening?

Thanks.

Right Click On A Cell You Want The Date To Show Up On...choose Format
Cell, Under The Tab Data, Choose Date, A Selection Of Date Types Will
Be Provided For You To Select The Format You Desire Or You Can Create
One For Yourself..pres Ok And The Date Should Appear In The Cell
Selected...the Only Problem After That May Be The Cell Size And The
Size Of The Data Info Inside Of It..if Too Small You Will Get #####.
Good Luck

to retain what you type, put a ' first, as:

'11 - 20

will show as 11 - 20 in the cell and will stop Excel from assuming
either something in November or -9
