The post does not give much information regarding the affected
workbook.
Do you have macros or vba code in this workbook, and do you know how to
check to see if a problem has been created with a misplaced line, or an
accidentally deleted Sub or End Sub etc ?

Any other clues ?

One has to wonder what you're doing running Excel 97 on a Windows Millennium
system - and can only assume that the problem may be related to the
probability that the system you were originally supplied with was
Win98-based, (probably First edition) and that you have since upgraded to
ME......

Have you recently installed any updates from Windows Updates or from Office
Updates???

Unfortunately both Office 97 and Win ME are no longer in full support from
MS - and I can find no references to your exact error message at MS - so it
may be that you are SOL without some heavy-hitter backing.......


That said - go to Windows Updates, and make sure that you have installed ALL
the 'Critical' updates, and any others that relate to Office - then go to
the Office site (office.microsoft.com) and see what's available there.

Did you 'over-install' or delete (remove) your copy of Excel 97 first?

Try deleting (removing) and then re-boot and clean-install Excel 97 (or
Office 97 if necessary)
An over-install may not be 'fixing' the issue - e.g. a corrupted registry
key or file not being overwritten.

BTW - If you have to delete (remove) the program(s), you *shouldn't* lose
any data, (but back-up your documents anyway!!) only personalised settings
(e.g. printer or font settings, templates, etc.) which you may have made.

Yes I did over install. I've just done as you said and completly removed
everything and install it again.

And it's only worked like a charm, problem fixed.

Cheers Noel - A bit of luck I suppose, as I'd once had similar(ish) issue
with Office 2000 Spent weeks, including several unsuccessful 'Repairs' and
ended up removing/re-installing to fix it. Just thought that it might work
