Default How do I create a Chart from character data?

Need to create a chart from character data. Do I use pivot table or bar/pie
chart and do I need to create a Macro?

Basically, how do I do this?

Is this a column of text, and you want a chart to show the frequency of
each item in the list?

If so, add a heading to the column, then create a pivot table to
summarize the data, and create a pie chart from the pivot table results.

In your pivot table, add the text field button to the row area, and
another copy of the same field button to the data area, where it will
become 'Count of text'.

There are instructions for pivot tables in Excel's Help, and Jon Peltier
