Office Assistant Message
A co-worker is getting the message "There are no Office Assistant character
files present on the system. Please run Setup in maintenance mode and install at least one character." She had run Excel earlier in the day and no message appeared; when she opened it this afternoon, it started showing the message. Any idea what could have been done to make it start apearing? -- Bill @ UAMS |

Sorry about the late Friday afternoon answer, but the office assistant is stupid. She shouldn't be using it anyway. Seriously....when you need help, do you want clippy, a dog, or just some damned help? |

Of course there ARE those who think that there's only one way of working, that being their own way; as you may have noticed elsewhere in this thread. Personally I always use the Office assistant because I prefer that when I press F1, a couple of square cms of screen gets covered by the assistant rather than having half the application screen disappear. To each their own. However returning to the original question, you may find some USEFUL advice on the subject he http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;839132 --------------------------------------------------------- Hank Scorpio scorpionet who hates spam is at iprimus.com.au (You know what to do.) * Please keep all replies in this Newsgroup. That is a usefull link for info on this problem but there is no fix for it.
Does anyone have a fix? I have totally removed Office 2003 rebooted and reinstalled and the problem returns. I'm thinking it has to be something in the registry that needs to be deleted? Please help!
