Trying to compare data from 2 different sources
I'm using the vlookup command and I'm comparing two data from different sources. They are both home-grown systems. The data I'm comparing looks the same, but for some reason the vlookup function is not recognizing them to be the same. I tried to copy/paste formats and that didn't work. I also tried the @right and @ left functions. Has anyone had a similar experience and/or make suggestions to fix? Could be a number of things. Have you checked that the lookup cells are
exactly the same and this includes any additional spaces before or after the lookup value. Sometimes one cell considers itself a number while another text. I sometimes find it useful to create a new column and use a function like VALUE on both tables to try get them to be equal. It is normally just a case of playing until you find the reason and there definitely will be a reason.
