Default disregarding empty fields during average

What formula can I use that will disregard the fields that are either blank
or "0" when averaging a block of cells?

Todd,

Try:

=SUMIF(range,"0")/COUNTIF(range,"0")

where "range" is, of course, the range you actually want to average.
