Default Can I get 0700 to appear as 0700 in a cell?

I am trying to get the number 0700 to appear as 0700 in a cell, not as 700.
When I type it in, Excell automatically corrects what it thinks is a mistake.
Is there a way to make it appear as 0700?

Todd,

Put an apostrophe before the first 0.
'0700
Excel will treat this as text.
You won't be able to do any calculations with it though.

If you have many of them to do, such as a list of Part Numbers,
etc...........then pre-format the cells for TEXT before typing in the
numbers with the leading zeros.

Hi Todd -

Type in the apostrophe (') and then 0700. Excel will read it is text and
not delete the first 0. Problem is, if you need to include that sum in any
kind of mathematical formula, it won't work. But hopefully the text
formatting will work for you.

And of course, if it *is* supposed to be a *real* (numeric) number, then
simply format the cell(s) to:
0000
