Default problem with cells

hope someone can help...

i use and excel spreadsheet to track the names of employees for my company,
which each tab representing a different department.

i have two colums, A for last name and B for first name.

i've noticed sometimes that if i change a name (spelling correction for
example),
the change will carry over to the corresponding cell on some of the other
sheets... changing that persons name incorrectly!

i don't know this happens until i click over to the other sheet and
hopefully notice any errors... since i'm familiar with the names, i can see
that the first name and last name do not belong together.

it makes my spreadsheet inaccurateto share with anyone who is not as familar
with the names as i am!

has anyone ever run into this problem?
is it something that i am doing wrong?

please help!
