Default Cell Referencing

I am simply referencing one cell from another.
For example, in cell L55 I am using the formula +C34,
intending to see the value of C34 in L55.

Instead of the value in C34, "+C34" is displayed in L55.
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help,

Silver

L55 may be formatted as text. Try this.

1. Select L55.
2. Press <Ctrl<Shift<~.
3. Press F2.
4. Press <Enter.
