Default move page up and down in Excel?

When I'm using a Spreadsheet in Excel, the up/down vertical slider bar on the
right doesn't move the page up and down in the usual way. Instead it gives a
line number, and the page moves so that the given number is at the top. Is
there a way to change this so that I can move the page in the usual way
please?

This live scrolling was a feature added in later versions of excel (xl2002? I
don't recall).

So one way is to upgrade to a newer version of excel.

Yup. I think by 2002 MS felt fast video boards were common enough to make
this viable. Before that it was pretty blurry.
