Default How do I increase the length of file names?

I'm using OSX with Entourage email. Everytime I attach an Excel file it
changes the last half of the names to meaningless characters. Is there a way
to extend the length of file names in my preferences? I'v looked everywhere
for the answer.

Please help me if you can.

Upgrade to Entourage 2004, which can handle long filenames.

Alternatively, zip your files (e,g., using DropZip) and give the zipped
file a shorter name.
