Default How to separate contents of one cell into multiple horizontal cell

Trying to separate characters, and numbers from one cell into separate cells.
I thought I knew the formual, but can't find it anywhere.
Example in cell:
1 better-samual
disired result in two adjacent cells:
better
samual
can this be done with a single formula?
Thanks for your help.
