Default Is there shortcut for merging cells when selected in Excel?

Just trying to avoid having to use mouse when typing and I need to merge
selected cells.

No easy one that I know of.

Alt + o + e to open format dialog.

Arrow key to move to Alignment tab

Alt + m and Enter

One thing I do know for certain...............merged cells will come back to
bite you eventually.
