Do you mean gesture recognition as in..........
computer's ability to respond to gestures: a computer function that recognizes gestures, especially hand or head movements, as input. How did they become entered and active? I did not know Excel had that capability. Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Tue, 18 May 2010 14:01:01 -0700, stocktiger wrote: |

I don't remember how the gestures got installed, but I can't find anything
in Control Panel regarding them. I don't think it's a mouse problem because gestures don't function in any other programs. "Billns" wrote: On 5/18/2010 2:01 PM, stocktiger wrote: How did you put them in? Excel add-in? This could possibly be a mouse function rather than Excel. Bill . |

Yes, the problem is that when I select a range of values to copy and paste,
the slightest movement of the mouse deselects the range and opens a sidebar that suggests a different action. Then I have to close the sidebar, re-select the data, copy it and paste it again (being VERY careful to have steady hand). This happens dozens of times every day, slowing things down significantly. Unfortunately, I don't remember how gestures got installed, and I can't find anything in Control Panel under Excel or elsewhere to remove it. Maybe my only recourse is to uninstall and re-install Excel from the original CD? stocktiger "Gord Dibben" wrote: Do you mean gesture recognition as in.......... computer's ability to respond to gestures: a computer function that recognizes gestures, especially hand or head movements, as input. ![]() Go to the Windows Control Panel and choose "Program And Features". The name varies from one version of Windows to the next. You want the control panel app that lists all the programs on the computer and allows you to uninstall programs. Find "Gestures" or whatever the actual name of the program is in the list and click Uninstall. This will remove the program. Restart the computer. No need to uninstall/re-install Excel. I once had a program like this. You move the mouse, say, in an "S" shaped path and the file would be saved. Move it in a "C" shaped path and it would close the file. It was really cool for about an hour and then it lost its charm. Is there an icon with a mouse pointer on it on the Quick Launch toolbar, if enabled, at the far right of your taskbar? If it's indeed StrokeIt, you can uninstall it or uncheck the option to run the program when Windows starts. I agree with Chip's comments about such a program. Bill |
