Default Form command not working on worksheet with merged cells

Hi,
I have a workbook which I set up to use Form entry using the table headers.
The form worked fine until I merged a couple of cells just to the right of
the table where entries were made. When I tried to use the Form (by clicking
on a ribbon button), I got an error message telling me that the facility
cannot be used on a table or range that contains merged cells - even though
the merged cells were not within the table area. I unmerged the offending
cells but use of the ribbon button still results in the "You can't use this
command on a table or range that contains merged cells." Can anyone help
please?
Thanks
John
