Default Unusual Date Format

I am writing an Excel 2002 template. I am importing two columns of dates
(date from and date to) from an external source. The date format is 'cyymmdd'
so today would be '1100421'. The cells are formatted as text.

I need to calculate the difference between the two dates, shown as a number
of weeks rounded down to the nearest whole number.

Any help would be appreciated.
