Default Paint Brush - Functionality different in 2007 from 2003

Recently upgraded to Excel 2007 and found that the functionality that I was
using in 2003 does not work in 2007.

I used the paint brush all the time in 2003 to take the all formatting
including hiding rows and columns from one spreadsheet to another. I could
go the to box on the left hand corner of a spreadsheet and right click then
click the paint brush then go to the new spreadsheet (same place) and hit
enter and all formatting including hiding rows and columns would transfer.
Now with 2007, it just transfers basic formatting.

Do you know of any way to transfer the hidden row/columns to the new
spreadsheet?
