sometimes the sum function will dissappear

i'm using excel 2002. do you know that tool down at the bottom that will add
the numbers in all the cells that you select? quite often it will stop
working. does anyone know how to get it working again.

also could you please tell me how i look up the threads that i've started?
it's obvious. i've tried looking in the user control panel and i don't see
it anywhere.

Are you selecting more than one cell when the statusbar fails?

How does it fail?

If you're using Sum or Max or any numeric function, are you sure that the values
are numeric--not just text?

If it disappears, make sure the statusbar is visible:
Tools|Options|view tab|check status bar.

I use google to search groups.

Give it enough information (you as the author, maybe a keyword or date) and
you'll find it.

Right-click on the Status Bar and make sure you are not set to "none"
