Default #Value Error

Hi

I am getting a #value error. The worksheet is set up horizontally. These
are the formulas:

At the quarter, I have =If(H33="","Quarterly",D33+F33+H33), and so on at
each quarter.

At the end, the formula in AB33 is
=Sum(D33-E33+F33-G33+H33-I33+J33-K33,etc...)

I guess it doesn't like the "quarterly" business. Can anyone give me
something I can understand that will work around the problem??

Thanks for you help!

If desired, send your file to my address below. I will only look if:
1. You send a copy of this message on an inserted sheet
2. You give me the newsgroup and the subject line
3. You send a clear explanation of what you want
4. You send before/after examples and expected results.

Default #Value Error

A #Value error usually means one of your cells is text. I would start
removing cells from your formula until the error disappears. Then you will
know the cell causing the problem. For example, are you trying to sum the
cell that has "Quarterly" in it?

Fred

One idea, you can use SUM's ability to ignore text and re-cast this:
=Sum(D33-E33+F33 ...

with something like this: =SUM(SUM(D33)-SUM(E33:F33) ... )
ie wrap SUM around each cell/range which might contain mixed data
(text/number), or contain formulas that might return mixed data ..
Any joy? hit the YES below

Errata, the outer SUM in this is not required
with something like this: =SUM(SUM(D33)-SUM(E33:F33) ... )

Just: =SUM(D33)-SUM(E33:F33) ...
