Default Lost file urgent help required please!

Hi,
I e-mailed an excell spreadsheet from my work pc to my laptop. I have been
working on this spreadsheet via the wireless network in my office, i now
believe that I worked and saved rather than "save as" after I had nearly
finised the spreadsheet I closed my PC down and decided to continue working
at home.
When I got home I went to open the file i could only find the origional
blank spreadsheet and all of the work I had done was missing.
I have performed a history/recent search and cant find the almost completed
spreadsheet but I have noticed that the file now has [1] at the end where as
the origional did not.
I really need to find this file.
If any one can help in this I would be very grateful
regards
Kevin

I feel your pain. . . Some questions to maybe get the creative juices
flowing. The [1] is only created when a file with the exact name is copied
into the same directory, so another file has to exist somewhere. What is the
time/date stamp of the the [1] file? That should give you a clue as to what
may be going on.

Obvious question, but have you checked your deleted items folder? Were you
working on the network when you saved? Is there a possibility that it could
be saved to the network instead of your laptop?

Thanks for your response, I have checked the deleated items folder and as far
as I can see the original is not anywhere just the copied file. The time and
date stamp is when i opened the original e mail I sent it too.
The laptop was connected to my work network when i was working on it. if i
re-connect to that network is there a possibility it could be there then? I
peobably sound really thick but I simply cant find it and have been looking
for hours! so the network route is my only glimmer of hope really!

No, you do not sound thick. . . you just need some help. Don't give up yet.
Everything appears to points back to your network. Just keep in mind that
another file has to exist somewhere or you would not have the [1] file.
