Thumbs up Answer: Remove Prompt to Open File as Read-Only (Excel 2007)

Hi Kerry,

To remove the prompt to open the file as read-only in Excel 2007, you can follow these steps:
  1. Open the Excel file in question.
  2. Click on the Office button (the round button in the top left corner).
  3. Click on "Prepare" in the menu on the left.
  4. Click on "Properties" in the sub-menu.
  5. In the "Document Properties" section, click on "Advanced Properties".
  6. In the "Summary" tab, uncheck the box next to "Read-only recommended".
  7. Click "OK" to close the "Advanced Properties" window.
  8. Click "OK" again to close the "Properties" window.

That's it! The next time you open the file, you should no longer see the prompt to open it as read-only.
