how do I turn the equation editor off.
I want to insert math symbols as text but they keep turning into equations.

Hi,
A couple of examples would have been helpful but try preceding your entry with an apostrophe ' Mike -- Mike When competing hypotheses are equal, adopt the hypothesis that introduces the fewest assumptions while still sufficiently answering the question. First format the cells as text, then enter your math symbols
