Default Updating the Horizontal Axis in Excel 2007

Hello,

I'm working with an employee who is working with charts in Excel 2007. The
chart has a Horizontal Axis with Dates. The employee use to be change the
Maximum and Minimum options for the Axis using Dates (i.e. 01 Jan 10) and the
chart would update automatically. When we try to change the Maximum field
using a date (01 dec 09) it goes back to its previous numeric value of
40200.0.

Any thoughts how we can update the Minimun and Maximum Axis values using
dates instead of numeric values?

Thanks,
